New World Aeternum Fort Capture and Faction Bonuses Guide

In New World Aeternum, all Territories with a Settlement have a Fort. If your Faction controls the Fort in a particular zone, your faction will gain a bonus. Capping forts is a PvP centric activity and you must be flagged for PvP to be able to enter a Fort.

How to Flag for PvP in New World Aeternum

If you are on PC, the default keybind to Flag for PvP is [U]. You have to be in a safe area (a Settlement or Fast Travel Point Shrine) to Flag for PvP. You must be in a Faction to be able to Flag for PvP in the open world.

The Faction Icon in the bottom left corner of the your UI (below Chat) will indicate whether you are flagged or not.

  • Swords either side of icon = not Flagged for PvP
  • Crossed Swords = Flagged for PvP

How to Capture a Fort in New World Aeternum

Before attempting to enter a Fort, make sure you are flagged for PvP, otherwise you will not be able to enter the Fort. Once you are inside the Fort, head to the white capture point circle in the center of the Fort/ Stand in it until the circle changes to your factions colour.

New World Aeternum Fort Capping

When someone is capping a Fort, crossed swords will appear over the Fort Icon on the Map, alerting other players that it is being Capped.

How Long can a Faction Hold a Fort?

Once a Fort is capped, it will be locked for an hour, meaning it can not be capped by another Faction. A timer will appear, when you hover over a locked Fort on the Map, indicating how much time is left until it can be capped by another Faction. This ensures the Faction gets to enjoy the bonus from the capped Fort (especially the crafting ones).

The Faction that owns the Fort, cannot cap it again once the timer is done, only the two other Factions can cap the Fort.

Here is a table showing all the Fort Faction Bonuses for each Territory. Territories are listed in Alphabetical order.

What Other Rewards do you get for Capturing a Fort?

Besides the Faction Bonuses, players who are in the Fort when it is capped will also get:

  • Azoth Salt
  • PvP (Track) XP
  • Territory Standing

You do not have to be in the capture point itself to get these rewards. As long as you are inside the Fort (or just outside it) you will get the rewards for your Faction capping the Fort.

Fort capping can be a fun way to earn some PvP XP and Azoth Salt. You might even get some PvP action too so you can get even more Azoth Salt and XP.

Fort Capture during Influence Races

During an Influence Race, the Fort is not locked when captured by a Faction. It can switch ownership between the Factions an unlimited amount of times throughout the Race. Once the Race is over, it becomes locked for an hour to the Faction that last capped it.
