This has been a long time coming. I haven’t liked the name ‘MMO Bits’ for a long time and wanted to change the domain to something with Xam Xam in it. Unfortunately, the domain I really wanted was well outside my price range, so I had had to settle for thexamxam.com. Now, with this rebrand, I can diversify my content–something I’ve also wanted to do. All of the old mmobits.com links should redirect to their thexamxam.com counterparts, so you will still be able to access all of my previous content.
So where have I been? A couple of things have happened in my life over the the last couple of years that have impacted my ability to create content. Firstly, my mum’s health deteriorated further meaning she now requires regular care which I provide. And secondly, my own health has also been in flux but I’m now finally starting to feel a bit better. I have energy and the motivation to do things, something I haven’t felt in a long time, it’s honestly amazing. You will be able to read more about my health struggles and my ongoing issues with getting diagnosis and treatment sometime soon.
In some further good news, I was able to get myself a new PC recently. A custom pre-built that has been running smoothly and can run all my games in max graphics. I’m very happy with my purchase.
Currently, my gaming focus is on Dune Awakening, Elder Scrolls Online and New World Aeternum. Dune Awakening has really captivated me, even though it’s not quite a traditional MMO. The gameplay systems and environment are really engaging particularly base building. However, I’m starting to run out of content to do. New World is in a bit of a stale state but Season 10 (probably coming out at the end of October) is looking promising. And finally, Elder Scrolls Online continues to be a somewhat stable MMO with a decently consistent content release cycle (even if not all of the content is for me). I’m looking forward to seeing what the Quarter 4 update brings.
And no, I do not have any plans to return to Star Wars The Old Republic.
So how will I be diversifying my content going forward?
While I will still be creating MMO gaming content, I will also be expanding into science communication content, with a focus on disaster resilience. Since doing a Masters in Disaster Resilience and Sustainable Development, I’ve wanted to ‘teach’ this multidisciplined field to a wider audience, talking about disaster theory and practice and how individuals, government and the private sector handle disasters and what more can be done.Â
I already have so many ideas for content, as long my health continues to improve, I’m keen to get back into the swing of things at my own pace. I also want to get back into streaming, I’ve just been pretty shy about it so far.
I’m looking forward to this new chapter of content creation and hope you will all join me!
