Dune Awakening 2025-2026 Roadmap Overview

The Funcom Developers have finally published a Roadmap for Dune Awakening. It doesn’t reveal too much about future content, except for what’s coming next, but hints at the direction they are going to take the game.

The Roadmap shows that outside of a free update and paid DLC in September, there will be no new end game content for the rest of 2025 besides ongoing bug fixes and quality of life changes. They have also announced more details about Chapter 2 (free update) and the Lost Harvest DLC at Gamescon.

There will be three different update cadences for Dune Awakening. Monthly updates that address bug fixes and quality of life changes, free Chapter updates and paid DLC’s (both usually released at the same time). There is also an Expansion set to be released in the second half of 2026.

Here is the Roadmap image the developers shared.

Here is my breakdown of the Roadmap. I attempted to put the information presented in the Roadmap article in relation to it’s estimated release date/timeframe and added some headings to make it easier to read. Of course the Roadmap is subject to change.

Longer Term Planning – Endgame Late 2025 and Early 2026

The information in this section is presented in the roadmap article as coming either before the end of 2025 or in the lead up to/part of Chapter 3.

Landsraad

The Landsraad is supposed to be the endgame activity driver. Currently it does not have the breadth or depth of content or progression to serve that function. As we work towards Chapter 3, we will begin to tie the faction progression of the game to the Landsraad, while also systematically building out the Landsraad with a greater variety of activities across the world.”

The developers are also planning on making the Landsraad contract based, rather than delivery based as they want to discourage stockpiling behaviours by players. They also want players to be rewarded for solo play and have multiple choices in how they progress over time. They are also going to make contributions easier to track.

Faction Reputation and Landsraad

Landsraad is also getting tied to Faction Reputation. Whether this means there will be more reputation levels added in the future is not specified in the article.

“You can increase your faction rank by completing Landsraad tasks, checking in with your Duke or Baron occasionally to perform special missions and visit faction vendors.”

Planned Landsraad Activities

As for the planned activities, we have plenty in mind in addition to the current testing stations and shipwrecks. The following list contains examples, and not promises, as these will take work and time to deliver. But currently we are thinking of things like: Assassinations, Treasure Maps, Races, Construction Challenges, Duels, Faction vs Faction maps, Improved control points, Scavenger Hunts, Temporary Crafting Challenges etc.

Some of these additional activities will require use of the Overland Map to get to new locations. This will be part of their effort to flesh out the Overland Map.

Deep Desert

The developers are experimenting with the tech behind the deep desert in the hopes of delivering a more stable experience. They also plan on reverting some of the changes made to the Deep Desert once Landsraad activities are more fleshed out.

“we will then transition the Deep Desert back towards the original intention – a sandbox area where players can compete for control of the spice. We will continue to iterate on the Deep Desert – adding no-fly zones to enforce ground combat, adding more layouts with more variety and challenge, and ensuring that there is clear progression”.

Final Thoughts

No additional details are provided about 2026 content in the Roadmap Article. So we will have to wait and see what they have planned in 2026.

This Roadmap does not make me feel very confident about the state of Dune Awakening and it’s future. But I think I will check out the September content at least since I really enjoyed the MSQ and I really want the Bene Gesserit Armor. After that, I’m not sure.
