Everything we know about the New World Aeternum Season 10 So Far

It’s all about Season 10 for those of us still playing New World Aeternum in 2025. The highly anticipated update is already looking to be a big update (well, for New World anyway). Here is everything we know so far about Season 10 from official Developer sources.

Details about the Season 10 update will be announced sometime in September (hopefully).

UPDATE: Season 10 has officially been announced! Check out my New World Aeternum Season 10 Nighthaven Overview article for details!

Most of what we know about Season 10 comes from the following sources:

Confirmed Season 10 Content

This section lists all the content that is highly likely coming in Season 10 as indicated by the Roadmap and from developer comments.

This developer comment I believe sums up what their goals have been for the year and particularly for Season 10. Time will tell if they can deliver.

New World Aeternum Season 10 new Zone?

New Zone

The developers have only offered a couple of hints about the new zone so far.

New World: Dev Update – July 2025 – a brand new handcrafted Zone, has some really cool vistas, so many new AI mobs.

New Raid

What little we know about the new Raid comes from the August 2025 Discord Q&A. But it sounds like it will be similar in scope to Hive of Gorgons.

[Chad R] August Discord Q&A – A fallen kingdom. A coveted relic. Twice the fool. Royal champions. Demise of a nemesis. The new raid will be roughly similar in size and format to Hive of Gorgons with three boss fights and additional encounters and light puzzles between. I can honestly say this has some of our best visuals to date and the team has done a fantastic job creating new mechanics and challenges to make each encounter feel unique. We’re really excited to get it out to you all!

I wonder if this has anything to do with the Monarch’s Bluffs MSQ? Guess we’ll see.

Procedural Expeditions w/ Extraction

We don’t know too much about Procedural Expeditions. But to me, this new content sounds like it’s inspired by The Elder Scrolls Online’s Infinite Archive. Infinite Archive is basically an infinite solo or duo queue dungeon where you go through a series of rooms that spawn enemy mobs and occasionally bosses from different parts of the game. The same few ‘rooms’ get cycled through but the mobs that spawn are different every time.

[JR] New World: Dev Update – July 2025 – PvE content is very expensive to make and takes a long time. It’s cool to handcraft everything but in the end it only takes a couple of hours to run through it. The whole promise of the procedural dungeons (Expeditions) is we’re trying to keep the magic of those handcrafted dungeons that we’ve been building that you can play over and over again and it’s different every time and you try to beat your best times.

[Dan] July Video Community Q&A – dungeon crawler boardgame’s were referenced when designing Procedural Expeditions (the actual name for this content was bleeped out in the video).

[Dan] July Video Community Q&A – you will be able to queue solo, you’ll be put into the instance solo, then you’ll find a group asynchronously through backfill. So you won’t be able to get as far as you would with a group, but you will be able to start playing and getting some rewards for your time.

It sounds like there could be a solo queue and a group queue option? Either way sounds interesting.

Endgame Progression Systems Overhaul, Next Gen Umbrals and Set Bonuses

Endgame gearing is getting a massive overhaul. Umbrals are making a comeback and we can expect changes to Perks too. Here is what the developers have said so far.

[Joel] July Video Community Q&A – There’s some spoilers ‘big changes’ for the progression overhaul in the way that you use your gear with Attributes or not as well. Not gonna say exactly what that is, but I’m going to leave a little hint there. That’s going to really mix up how you use your weapons and play with your gear.

Umbrals

They are reintroducing Umbrals, but different, with the aim of making gear from a variety of content both old and new viable. Will be interesting to see how this stacks up with all the other changes eg. perk changes and set bonuses.

[Joel] New World: Dev Update – July 2025 – Good reasons to chase things, not just new content (ie. new raid), making sure there’s good pieces of gear, (new system) set bonuses. With Umbrals a lot of stuff is going to be upgradeable so you’re going to be able to go back to old content as well like Mutations 1, 2 and 3, Sandworm and Gorgon (Hive of the Gorgon Raid). Newer gear and chasables going to be spread to older content. A lot of perk and balance changes that will mix up the meta. M3’s will be reinvigorated and have better rewards.

[Joel] July Video Community Q&A – Umbrals are are going to make more gear across the board viable and new socketables for perks and customisation for players.

Set Bonuses

[Joel] July Video Community Q&A – They will be obtainable in the Procedural Dungeon, the Raid, the PvP Reward Track will have one. As for how many pieces in a set, the system is flexible, so we have a set bonus at two pieces and five pieces, another that’s two and four, three and five. We do want to get the feeling of mix and matching (give players the ability to mix and match?) . In the future you could be wearing up to three different sets, but expect to wear two at the launch of the feature. It is a flexible system so if we really like a Set Bonus universally, we can put it across multiple Weapons so you can pick and choose how you piece that set together.

[JR] July Video Community Q&A – We have two different layouts for Set Bonuses. We have two and four, like something unlocks it, two sets or two pieces and four pieces and then we have three and five, something that unlocks three sets or three pieces and three and five pieces. Those numbers were chosen because they have the most combination for laying out the sets and having all your pieces contributing to some Set Bonus.

It sounds a little confusing but basically there will be different ‘layouts’ so you will need to wear a certain amount of pieces from a set to get a bonus and we’ll be able to combine different bonuses from different sets. For example, a five piece set may have a ‘bonus’ you get when you wear three pieces from the set and another bonus at five pieces worn from the same set. But you will also be able to combine sets so you could wear three pieces from one set to get a bonus and three pieces from another set to get another bonus. (I hope this makes sense).

Artifact Duplicates

There is also the possibility of being able to get Artifact duplicates.

[NW Josh] August Discord Q&A – This is something we are looking into doing with season 10, however it is not 100% settled on due to some potential limitations, but with some new slottable tech we have we want to allow more customizable slots on items for interesting combinations. However there will still be some set in stone perks to fit the theme and balance of the items.

The developers have mentioned new slottable tech and customisation a few times but they have not elaborated on exactly what this means or how it will work.

New World Aeternum Gear Sets

Attributes Saved with Gear Sets

The Gear Set Storage System (introduced in Season 1, April 2023), is going to be upgraded to save Attributes as well as Gear and Consumables.

[Joel] August Discord Q&A – Attributes will be something you can save in your gear sets in S10.

Customisable HUD

We know very little about this, the developers have not commented on it (as far as I’m aware). But it will be interesting to see what and how we can customise the HUD.

New Mounts

The developers have confirmed that there are new Mount types being introduced in Season 10.

[NW_17thCenturyCableGuy] August Discord Q&A – There will be new mount offerings in S10!

New Crafting Resources

The developers have hinted at new crafting resources coming in Season 10.

[NW Joel] August Discord Q&A – We will have some new resources in s10 that are somewhat similar to gem cutting but we will have more information to share on this leading up to S10.2

New World Aeternum Reekwater

Content coming after Season 10

The developers have claimed that the ‘and beyond’ section of the Roadmap will come out ‘very soon’ after Season 10 releases. December would be my guess.

  • New Weapon – It is highly likely a duel wield weapon. But beyond that, the developers have not specified if it as Daggers or Pistols.
    • [JR] July Video Community Q&A – We have three weapons in development right now.
  • Raid Difficulties
  • New PvP Mode
  • Zone Uplevel – This is likely the Reekwater up level they’ve been talking about for awhile now.
  • New Heartrunes
  • Endgame Reputation Systems
  • Pick-Up Wars – A highly requested feature by the community is finally close to reality!
  • Crafting Global Storage – Katy is very excited about this and honestly, so am I.
    • I don’t think the developers will do this but my secret hope with Global Storage is that it is not per character but instead accessible to all your characters on the same server. That would be incredible!

One last thing I want to include, that they mention briefly in the July Q&A, is they are looking at making revisions to the Lifetaff. There was no specifics on timing though so I couldn’t put this in the main part of the article. But as a Healer main, I’m definitely curious to hear more about this.

And finally yes, I am aware of the datamined info and leaks out there but chose not to include them in this article. You can find them in certain Discords if you’re interested.

Thank you for reading this article! Hopefully we won’t have to wait too much longer to hear more about Season 10!
